What Should I Get Next For My "studio"?

Christmas is fast approaching (sorry Spike!). Being a fortunate materially contented person I find it difficult to know what to spend my xmas money on or what to ask for. So I would like to know how I can improve my "studio". I was considering buying some sort of arm for my mic with a shock mounts to cancel out the noise from the laptop fans. Below is a current list of my equipment. Any suggestions?

x1 Berenger Xenyx 1622 Mixer
x2 Shure PG48 microphones
x2 Foam windshields for the mics
x2 desktop mike stands
x1 Berenger mini headphone amp
Lots of headphones!
x2 laptops one for takign phone calls and Skype calls the other for play out and web cam.
x1 basic Berenger USB interface
x1 pair of speakers with sub woofer

if you want to cancel noise for ie fans of laptops/pc and other noises in and around the studio , a shock mount is'nt the best thing to use.
It only will help for noises while touching the microphone or banging on the desk
If you want a clean sound you need a voiceprocessor which is made for those kind of jobs.
other advantege of aa voice processor is it enhances the sound of the miccrophone.
In professional studio's its a must to have one.
Got one on the whish list my self

I would up the mic's rhodders, your pg's are adequate but not the mustard. If you have background noise ie comp fans, people down stairs etc stick with a dynamic. Your budget will dictate the mic you go for...condenser mics are ace but will pick up the dog licking it's privates in the next room. I would suggest having a read of this if you go for a mic upgrade....http://www.benbax.com/voice-over-studio.shtml
A studio arm is ace but remember to attach it to something that isn't vibrating...like the desk the lappy is whurring away on. Also remember if you upgrade one piece of audio equip it can highlight the weakness of other bits of stuff in the audio chain....I had that prob when i tried to run my mic through the behringer mixer...I got alot of noise so had to get an expensive pre amp!!!
But it'll soon be that time of year so go on spoil yaself!!

Man .. You have heard me on Air .. and all I use are Behringer C1 Mic's With a Behringer 802 mixer and a Beringer Composer Pro XL The Room isnt even sound prof.

Most times I bradcast with the windows open.. Btw you dont need two computers to run Skype on air You just need to have a little switch box set up...
Spike has been on skype with me when I have been on air

Let me know if you want some info on it

Stay classy !

That is true. I use a SINGLE PC for broadcasting, including Skype. All it takes is a nice desktop PC, a couple of extra sound cards (or an extra sound card + USB mixer, like me), and you're rocking.

Thanks guys you have given me a lot to think about. Eddie have you got a link to that processor?? What is the difference between a processor and a compresso?

Spike, what should I attach my mic arm to? How does your studio work?

It looks like I'm thinking of getting: a new mic, mic arm with shock mount and probs a 2nd USB audio interface.

Here are some links to voice processors
http://www.broadcastpartners.com/soundprocessing/voice-187/
here is a vid about some basics what voice processing is about

Hope this helps you a little
and the diff between a compressor and a voice processor is that the comrepssor is just a single machine and the voice processor a complete chain for voice in one machine ie compressor , expander , gate , deesser ,and final limiter.

@rhodders
here's how you should set up your mic and stand in your studio to avoid rumbling and vibrations etc

So if I shouldn't attach my mike onto the table with the laptops on what should I attach it to?might be a silly question but I have to ask!
